Community Development Block Grant - Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR)

Overview

Sarasota County is a direct recipient of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)'s Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR). The County will be awarded $201.5 million in funding to deliver unmet needs assistance to the community from the impacts from Hurricane Ian. The newly created Resilient SRQ will administer the funding.

CDBG-DR projects are “activities related to disaster relief, long-term recovery, restoration of infrastructure and housing, economic revitalization and mitigation in the most impacted and distressed areas” and generally fall into the following categories: housing, restoration of infrastructure, and economic revitalization. The County will develop projects and programs that are intended to best meet the unmet needs of Sarasota County with focus on supporting low-to-moderate income households. Sarasota County is in the early planning stages and there will be several opportunities for individuals and organizations to provide input on the Action Plan development process. These opportunities will be posted on this webpage, bookmark and check back for information to come.
